Hundreds without power in Southwest Virginia

UPDATE: 350 power crew members across Southwest Virginia continue their efforts to restore power to customers impacted by outages.

According to AEP, more than 550 people are without power.

The highest totals remain in Montgomery, Grayson, and Carroll Counties.

A dozen BARC Electric members are without power this morning in connection with two separate outages in the Rockbridge County area.

That's down from 600 at the peak of the outages.

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - After high wind gusts Saturday night and early Sunday morning thousands of people in Virginia and West Virginia lost power.

As of 8 a.m. Sunday Appalachian Power reports more than 15,000 customers without power in Virginia and more than 11,000 without power in West Virginia.

The highest totals are in:

  • Montgomery County where more than 4,000 are without power
  • Grayson County: more than 2,600
  • Carroll County: more than 2,900
