Wood Brothers Return to Martinsville Racing Roots

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS-10 SPORTS) -The legendary Wood Brothers return to Martinsville this weekend for the first time since 2011. They're from just up the road in Stuart. Their history here at the Speedway dates back to the 1950s when it was just a dirt track.

The team is racing a full Cup series schedule for the first time since 2008. Driving the 21 for Woods this season is Ryan Blaney... the 22 year old son of David Blaney. He says he's excited to race for such a legendary crew at their home track. This will be Blaneys first Cup start of his career. He says he

"It's really been the same every week it's just been a lot of fun to drive for them and be here every week and work with everybody on this race team whether they're new or veterans on the Woods Brothers teams. It's just cool to be at the track and be around everybody," explains Blaney.

Of course Blaney is used to running in the XFINITY series and most recently the truck series but this weekend it's all about the Big Stage the Cup series this weekend.
