RADFORD (WSLS 10) - Radford University criminal justice students had hands-on experience in handling a crime scene on Thursday.

Faculty and police helped stage the scene of a murder on campus. Students then had to process the evidence, control who entered the area and piece together theories about what happened.

The mock crime scene was organized by former Maryland police officer Tod Burke.

"Crime scenes are not like they are on TV. You're not going to solve a crime in an hour with commercials," said Burke. "We want to show them that this is a lot more difficult. It's a learning experience."

Last week, Radford students also got chance to tackle a mock biohazard emergency.
