Inaugural 'Breast Fest' to benefit Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -- The annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Roanoke will kick off a week early with the first ever Breast Fest 2016.

The annual run and walk to support local breast cancer education, screening and treatment is Saturday April 9th.

Breast Fest will take place Friday, April 8 at the Reserve Avenue race site.

The family friendly event will include live music with two bands, food trucks and games.

Musician Adam Rutledge said he couldn't pass up the opportunity to support Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge.

"What we always like as a band Rutledge to help out anytime we can. And while breast cancer hasn't affected me directly thankfully, you know I got a mom a wife and daughters and sisters that I love very much so it's important to help any way we can," he said.

Breast Fest will take place from 5 to 9 pm.

Tickets are $10. Entry is free with Race for the Cure registration.
