ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -  The trial is scheduled to start this afternoon for a man whose 3-year old daughter was killed after his car collided with an oncoming train. 25-year old Austin Lilly is facing aggravated involuntary manslaughter charges after the March 2015 accident in Elliston. Marlee Dawn Rickman Lilly was killed. If convicted the sentence could carry one to twenty years in prison.

The old Blacksburg Middle and High School properties will be talked about in a closed meeting tonight by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. In September, we told you the town of Blacksburg wanted to buy the former High School on Patrick Henry Drive for recreational use.

There is a community development announcement today at the Danville River District. The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development is hosting the event. Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones will be there this morning. The comes as the next phase of streetscape improvements in the River District begin today. Expect construction and lane closures for the next seven to eight months along Craghead Street from Newton Street to Loyal Street. The third phase of the project begins with installation of storm drains to help with flooding, utility upgrades and replacing sidewalks.

The Towns of Pembroke and Narrows in Giles County are looking for ideas on business district revitalization that will help develop outdoor recreation and tourism. The town has secured a Community Development Block Grant to identify infrastructure and development projects that can revitalize downtowns, improve outdoor reaction assets, support existing businesses and attract tourists.

There are two meetings at the Pembroke Town Hall. Monday, March 28th, 6-8 p.m. OR Tuesday, March 29th, 2-4 p.m.

Monday, March 28th, 2pm to 4pm -OR- Tuesday, March 29th, 6pm to 8pm. Both meetings will be held in the Narrows Town Hall at 210 Main Street.

Tonight is the Virginia premiere of the latest film by Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director Josh Fox, his third film since his famous Gasland.  This new documentary, How to Let Go of the World (And Love All the Things Climate Can't Change), investigates how climate change threatens our world and way of life. Preserve Franklin and Preserve Roanoke, both chapters of the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League (BREDL), are hosting the free screening to highlight their ongoing struggle against the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP), a massive 42" pipeline that would transport fracked natural gas over 300 miles from West Virginia to the Virginia coast. It's tonight at the Grandin Theatre.

The President and the First Lady host the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn.  The event will feature live music, sports courts, cooking stations, storytelling and, of course, Easter egg rolling. This year's talent includes: Idina Menzel, Silento, Daya, Echosmith, and Trevor Jackson.
