UPDATE: Man arrested after late night shooting in Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) –  An arrest was made in connection to a shooting in Roanoke. Police said Quinton Maurice Dillard, age 30, of Roanoke turned himself in. He was charged with malicious wounding and possession of a

firearm by a convicted felon.

A 24-year-old man was shot after an altercation in Roanoke Friday night in the Melrose neighborhood.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. in the front yard of a home in the 1500 block of Melrose Avenue N.W.

The victim was shot in the arm and was taken to Roanoke Carilion for treatment. He is expected to recover.

A spokesperson for the Roanoke City police Department says neighbors who heard gunshots called 9-1-1.

According to police the shooter and the victim knew each other. Anyone with information is asked to call the Roanoke Valley Crime Line at 540-344-8500

Dillard was taken to the Roanoke City Jail.
