The Virginia Department of Forestry has set a goal to reach full containment by late Friday night.

Despite some rain, forester Joe Boswell says the sun coming out paired with low-humidity and breezy conditions makes that goal an ambitious one.

An estimated 150-acres have burned in the brush fire.

Boswell says crews are continuing efforts to put out hot spots on the mountain tonight and will return tomorrow.

In the meantime, the Franklin County Fire Marshal's Office has issued a countywide burn ban through midnight Saturday.
