Tom McKinnon, Logan and Patrick's father, said the boys would wear their shirts and hats to support their team during games, according to an article on GoHeels.com.

The two boys died in a fire that happened in the early morning hours of March 19 at the McKinnon's home.

Both parents, Tom and Lindsay, as well as members of the Montoya family were first taken to a Roanoke hospital, then transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

The article states that both Tom and Lindsay have been released, but plan to stay in the Winston-Salem area for a while.

"There's nothing in Roanoke for us to go back to," said Tom during his interview.

When word of the what happened reached the UNC basketball team, the team did what it could to help the family. The Tar Heels signed a ball for the McKinnons and recorded a quick video message on Thursday morning from their hotel room in Philadelphia as they prepare for their Sweet 16 match-up on Friday.
