INDEPENDENCE (WSLS 10) - Volunteers are working together to upgrade Grayson County High School's football bleachers.

The bleachers are 40 years old and were condemned this past fall. Superintendent Kelly Wilmore said it would cost about $200,000 to remove the bleachers.

Now, volunteers within the community, like Chuck Wagoner, are helping the school remove them for no cost.

"Well, we wanted to support our community and we feel good about getting out here and helping, especially the school," said Wagoner. "And we support the kids, everything in our community and we just want to be a part of it."

Volunteers are using bulldozers and backhoes to remove the bleachers in preparation for the new ones, which are expected to be ready for this year's graduation on May 28.
