BLACKSBURG (WSLS10) - Some Virginia Tech faculty members are taking a stand against Dr. Charles Murray coming to campus.
On March 23rd, professors from the group "Still Concerned: A Virginia Tech Faculty Initiative" hosted a "teach in" at Torgersen Hall. The "teach in" is a community discussion on Murray's work, including "The Bell Curve."

Event organizers, like Dr. Sam Cook, claim Murray has built a career on false claims about the inferiority of minorities, women, low income individuals and people with disabilities.
"When you present assertions about racial inequality through statistical manipulation, you better be ready for the fall back because we're talking about research -- supposed research -- that impacts people's lives," said Cook. The "teach in" began at 8 P.M.
Murray's speech will take place on Friday, March 25th, in the Latham Ballroom at the Inn at Virginia Tech. His speech is part of the Pamplin College of Business' BB&T Distinguished Lecture Series on Capitalism.
Murray has claimed his book, "The Bell Curve," is not about race, but about intelligence and class structure.
