BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Botetourt County is preparing to welcome Eldor Corporation.

The Italy-based company will invest $75 million and create 350 jobs at its facility, which is expected to be up and running by summer 2017.

Cody Sexton with Botetourt County said the county is making a lot of improvements as part of its comprehensive plan.

"We're gonna look at areas in the county that we want to target for residential growth and look at transportation infrastructure, partnering with VDOT, and other areas for commercial growth," said Sexton.

With 350 new jobs and families moving there, the county is keeping tabs on the number of students attending the public school system and isn't ruling out anything at this point.

"While we do have capacity now, we are ideally hopeful for growth; especially in our school system and wanting to maximize every resource we have," continued Sexton.

There's also a question about water quality. Sarah Baumgardner, with the Western Virginia Water Authority, said the new Botetourt Pump Station installed a couple of months ago replaced old wells.

The new station will help accommodate Eldor and other future businesses.

"For the customers out here in Greenfield the biggest benefit they saw was improved water quality and quantity and the hardness was what most customers noticed," says Baumgardner.

The Roanoke Regional Partnership estimates $246 million in economic impact at full employment in 2021.
