Fifteen-year-old Danville shooting suspect turns himself in

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – Danville police say a shooting suspect turned himself in Monday evening.

Fifteen-year-old Jaylen Davon Hamlett faces charges of aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, underage possession of a firearm and shooting in public in connection with last week's shooting on Guerrant Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 30-year-old Danville man on the ground outside of a home suffering from what appeared to be gunshot related injuries. The victim was sent to the hospital.

Police listed Hamlett as being armed and dangerous last week following the shooting.

He is currently being held at the W. W. Moore, Jr. Juvenile Detention Home.
