"Last Confederate Capital" marker re-installed

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - The "Last Confederate Capital" historical marker in Danville is back in place now.

The marker was re-installed outside the Sutherlin Mansion Monday morning.

The marker, which has been outside the mansion since 1939, was taken down on March 4th to be restored. It was repainted with a more weather resistant paint.

Confederate President Jefferson Davis stayed at the Sutherlin Mansion during the final week of the Civil War and held his last official cabinet meeting there.
