Louisiana flood evacuaee glad for relief effort

BLACKSBURG (WSLS10) - Karen Dantone is fighting back tears after now learning that her family is safe in Louisiana.

She drove 12 hours from Poncahtoula to Blacksburg days before the storm hit to take care of her brother.

Dantone said the flood reminds her of Hurricane Katrina, a storm that ravaged the Gulf Coast nearly ten years ago, but she loves the sense of community after a natural disaster.

"Your lawyers are working with your waiters and everybody is cleaning yards everybody pulls together we call it hurricane mode everybody is equal everybody helps, Dantone said.

Local volunteers are working to help flood victims in Louisiana.

God's Pit Crew will be delivering tractor trailer loads of relief supplies to Covington, Louisiana.

The first tractor trailer load left  its warehouse Sunday morning.
