Hadsell's original defense counsel requested to withdraw earlier this month, after a new witness came forward in the case.

Federal investigators believe the witness could have evidence tying Hadsell to the death and disappearance of his adopted daughter, Anjelica.

Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell disappeared last March, and was later found dead in an abandoned home 50 miles from her house.

Hadsell could be facing up to life in prison for an unrelated federal weapons charge, which he pleaded guilty to last November.

He was arrested during the investigation into AJ's disappearance, but was never made a suspect.

The prosecution in the weapons case will be arguing for a sentence of 15 years to life for Hadsell.
