Round Town: St. Patrick's Day events and more

(WSLS 10) - Downtown Roanoke turns green for the Saint Patrick's Day Parade and Shamrock Festival. Enjoy the parade as it floats through town starting at 11 a.m. After the parade, stick around for the Shamrock Festival. Enjoy entertainment, craft vendors, food and a Kids Zone from noon until 5 p.m.

A new exhibit opens this weekend at the Lynchburg Museum showcasing the city's rail heritage. The exhibit includes signals, uniforms, photographs and trains. The exhibit opens at 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission to the museum is free.

Roanoke Children's Theatre presents "The Ice Cream Man." The play is meant to start a discussion about the dangers of teens and substance abuse as it follows four teens and their experience with drug use and how they end up later in life. Performances are Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. Admission to this show is free.

Head to Danville Saturday for the Free Clinic of Danville Shamrock 5K. The race starts and finishes at the community market. You can register until 8:30 a.m. The race begins at 9 a.m.

William Fleming's Colonel Theatre Company presents "Once On This Island." It's the story of a girl who finds love in the world of the haves and the have-nots. Performances begin at 7:30 Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.
