Q99's Dick and Dave raise money for children in need

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Raising money for Children's Miracle Network hospitals, Q99 radio in Roanoke held the 13th annual Dick and Dave's Care for Kids radiothon.

These two girls from Boones Mill traveled with their mother from Boones Mill to donate a years worth of change they've been saving for the event.

This is an annual fundraising event these well-known raido DJ's hold every year to raise money for Children's Miracle Network hospitals which includes Carilion children's clinic based in Roanoke.

David Page and Dick Daniels took callers and met with listeners who pledged donations to help with the charity. They even had local children stop by who donated money they've been saving all year to help sick children in need.

"One of our favorite parts of this event is seeing kids help kids," Page said.

In the past twelve years, Dick and Dave have raised over $1.7 million dollars for Children's Miracle Network.

This year, they raised $141,130.

Daniels says to see an outpouring of community support for a great cause continues to be inspiring.

"It's one big radio family," Daniels said.

Donations can be made by calling in to the Magic City Ford phone bank at 1-877-355-KIDS (5437) until 6 p.m. Saturday evening. Donations can be made online even after on Q99's website.
