Elliston man arrested, charged after high-speed pursuit

MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - An Elliston man is facing more than half a dozen charges following a high-speed pursuit in Montgomery County.

According to the sheriff's office, a deputy noticed a vehicle traveling more than 100 mph on Route 460 near Eastern Montgomery High School. The deputy activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the driver, 31-year-old Joseph Meade, but the suspect didn't stop.

Meade led deputies on a pursuit lasting several minutes. During the chase he changed directions and hit some of the patrol vehicles. The pursuit ended when Meade hit a deputy's vehicle head-on. The patrol vehicle wasn't moving at the time of the collision. There was some property damage to the patrol vehicles, but no one was hurt during the incident.

Meade is currently being held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail. He's facing half a dozen charges including driving under the influence, hit & run and reckless driving.
