Daytime Kitchen: Tea Time

Both ginger and turmeric have incredible anti-inflammatory properties, which means this soothing and delicious latte is also really good for you.

Ginger+Turmeric Milk

Vanilla Almond milk

pinch of turmeric

pinch of cardamom

pinch of ground ginger

pinch of cinnamon

Traditional Indian Chai

(makes 4 Servings)

3 black Tea bags

Approximately 5 cups of water

1 cup of Vitamin D milk or Half and Half

cardamom pods

ginger (fresh or ground)

black pepper

cinnamon

sugar to taste

Boil tea bags with spices. Once tea starts to boil and milk. Serve hot.

Chai Spiced Cookies

2 & 3/4 cups of all purpose flour

1 teaspoon of baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 heaping teaspoon of cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger

1/4 tsp of cloves

1 teaspoon of lemon peel

1 teaspoon of ground cardamom

1 cup butter, softened

1 1/2 cups white sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F . In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder and spices. Set aside.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry

ingredients.

Slowly add the dry ingredients one large spoonful at a time.

For large cookies *Roll into large (1/4 cup) of dough into balls, and place onto un-greased cookie sheets. Bake 12-13 minutes

For regular cookies * Roll dough into rounded teaspoonfuls. Bake 8 to 10 minutes

in the preheated oven, or until golden.
