ROANOKE (WSLS)-- Roanoke City crews have been working around the clock to clear the roads, dealing with snow, flooding and downed trees.
Tuesday morning, commuters were met with flooding on major highways, like Route 220 and Franklin Road. Plow trucks worked to remove snow from storm drains, allowing the water to funnel off the road.

The heavy ice and freezing rain weighed down on trees and power lines as well.
Iris Kaltenbaugh works at Tanglewood Mall, she says she stayed at a friend's house overnight, to make sure she could get to work safely. While she was inside waiting for her car to warm up, she heard a big crash. A giant tree split at the trunk, landing right on top of her brand new SUV.
"We came outside and it was pouring rain," says Kaltenbauhg. "The car was still running, the windows were smashed out and we didn't really know what to do. We panicked."
Across the Star City, other drivers and homeowners are dealing with similar issues this afternoon. Templeton Avenue was shut down throughout the day, after a tree was uprooted, falling across the street and into a home.
"We got a call saying 'The Red Cross is here, they're being helpful, and oh by the way, a tree fell into our home,'" says Steve Pardon with JMAX property Management. "That's the kind of calls we've been dealing with today."
The family was home, but no one was hurt when the tree fell. The American Red Cross will be helping the family for several days as they work to figure out the plans for repairs.
