Three people killed following crash in Campbell County

ROANOKE (WSLS) - Police say speed was a factor in a crash that killed three people Saturday night in Campbell County. Virginia State Police (VSP) officers said the crash occurred at 9:55 p.m. on Route 622, less than a mile west of Route 682.

Police said a 2008 Toyota Camry was traveling east on Route 622 when it ran off the left side of the road. The car struck a mailbox and then struck an embankment.

The driver, David C. Johnson, 36, of Goode, Va., died at the scene. A female passenger, Micalynn A. White, 37, of Goode, Va., and a male passenger, Kylin J. Johnson, 1, of Goode, Va., both died at the scene.

Police said neither the driver nor adult passenger was wearing a seat belt. The one-year-old passenger was secured in a child safety seat. Speed was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation
