Sherman Lea wins democratic nomination for mayor, 3 others win city council nod

ROANOKE (WSLS) - Despite the cold weather, crowds lined up at the Berglund Center for Saturday's "Firehouse Primary". Longtime city councilmember Sherman Lea won the nomination for mayor. Lea ran against current Vice Mayor David Trinkle.

Officials said a record number of voters turned out for Saturday's election. Close to 3,000 votes were cast. Anita Price, Trish White-Boyd and Freeda Cathcart won the Democratic nominations for the Roanoke City Council.
