Henrico Citizen Rescues Accident Victim

HENRICO, Va - A 65 year old Henrico man is being called a hero after saving a crash victim. On Saturday, Henrico County rescue crews responded to Interstate 64 for a report of a traffic crash around 4:13 a.m.. Police said a vehicle traveling west of 64 ran off the road and struck a sign post. When firefighters arrived they found a vehicle fully involved in flames. The driver of the vehicle was found in the ditch near the vehicle. Crews were able to extinguish the car fire and at the same time treat and transport the driver to the hospital. The driver had significant injuries.

According to authorities, a 65 year old Henrico man arrived at the accident just after it occurred. He noticed the vehicle was smoking heavily and the driver was screaming for help to get out. The citizen ran to the passenger side of the car and pulled the driver of the vehicle out and away from the vehicle. Just after the driver was pulled out the vehicle it burst into flames. After speaking with police about the accident the citizen continued on to work for the day.
