Danville Police investigate after Wednesday night incidents

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - Danville Police are investigating two incidents that happened Wednesday morning.

Danville Police responded to a call of an attempted robbery in the 3000 block of Riverside Drive Wednesday at 6:21 PM in reference to an attempted armed robbery. A Pittsylvania County woman said she was on Riverside Drive when she was approached by one suspect wearing a ski mask over his face and carrying a handgun demanding money. The suspect was described as being 5'7" to 5'9" wearing a hoodie sweatshirt and light grey jogging pants. Police say the woman was grabbed from behind and hit with the handgun. The victim ran from the scene. The suspect also left the area on foot in an undetermined direction. The victim was treated near the scene by the Danville Life Saving Crew for non-life threatening injuries. The incident is under investigation by the Danville Police Department.

Danville Police then responded to a call of a robbery in the parking lot of the Golden Coral located at 195 Holt Garrison Parkway at 7:13 PM. Two Pittsylvania County residents advised one suspect came up to them in the parking lot of the Golden Coral with a handgun and demanded money. The suspect was described as a black male, 5'8" 150 pounds wearing a dark hoodie with a blue bandanna covering his face. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and left on foot. The police investigation is continuing.

No word from police if the two incidents are connected.
