Two former employees investigated for embezzling from Bedford Country Club

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - State police are investigating a former PGA professional and his girlfriend for allegedly embezzling money from the Bedford Country Club.

According to search warrants, Michael Thompson was responsible for managing day-to-day operations while Michelle Clark worked as a club attendant. In addition, state police believe Thompson used embezzled funds to bet on horses on TVG.com.

"The members know this is going on and members have been informed as much as we can inform them," says Sam Hodges, president of board of directors of the Bedford Country Club.

Hodges says he is working with state police over the missing money.

According to court documents, there were several inconsistencies like membership dues not applied to members' accounts, cash withdrawn from the club's debit card, and little or no cash deposited in snack bar records.

State police linked Thompson and and Clark via their involvement in day-to-day finances and are looking into their bank accounts going back to January 2015.

Hodges' wouldn't say how much money is missing and says they're focused on moving on.

"As far as the country club goes we're fine financially we're fine," says Hodges. "We're doing some renovations in the spring looking forward to a great pool and golf season this upcoming spring and summer."

According to the commonwealth's attorney, Thompson and Clark have no been charged. He is currently waiting for state police to complete their investigation.

We also tried to reach the couple and went to a few of their addresses listed in search warrants but we were told they've moved.
