BLACKSBURG (WSLS10) - One group of children got a special treat this weekend. Organizers with Special Spectators worked with Virginia Tech to allow children at Carilion's Hospital to get a tour of the men's basketball facility.

Some kids met cheerleaders, Basketball Coach Buzz Williams and the Hokie bird.

Volunteers with the group said it's good when children can get a family day out of the hospital.

"There are no words to describe having a family day, away from the hospital, away from the stress, of whatever medical illness is going on and to have a wonderful experience at their favorite college is just awesome," Laura Robinson, with Special Spectator said.

About 24 kids got the ultimate Hokie experience.

Special Spectators is non profit VIP college game day experiences for ill children and their families.
