ROANOKE (WSLS) - Roanoke police continue to investigate shots fired in a Kmart parking lot. Roanoke police said, on January 29, 2016, they were called to the parking lot of the Kmart store in the 1400 block of Hershberger Road to investigate a shots fired call.
According to police, officers found Abdoula Mubiedin, 25, in the parking lot. Mubiedin told officers that a man had fired several shots at him in parking lot after an altercation that started inside the store. Police said Mubiedin and several witnesses told officers the other man had left the parking lot in a vehicle before officers arrived. Through the investigation, detectives identified the second man as Darius Bratton, 22, of Roanoke. Officers said Bratton later came to the police department and spoke with detectives.

a news release issued by police stated- Bratton said the altercation started with Mubiedin arguing with Bratton's girlfriend, a Kmart employee, about some items Mubiedin wanted to return. Bratton said the altercation continued in the parking lot where Mubiedin produced what appeared to be a handgun that he obtained from his vehicle. Bratton said that he feared for his safety and produced a personal firearm. He then fired several shots in the direction of Mubiedin and then left the scene. No one was injured as a result of the shooting. Officers recovered a realistic looking airsoft pistol from Mubiedin's vehicle. Officers also recovered a handgun from Bratton's residence. Following the investigation and consultation with the commonwealth's attorney's office, detectives charged Bratton with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and reckless handling of a firearm. Detectives also charged Mubiedin with brandishing a firearm. Officers served both men with the warrants earlier this evening.
