HALIFAX CO. (WSLS 10) -- An accidental shooting in Halifax County is under investigation. The Halifax County Sheriff's Department said on Sunday around 3 p.m., it received a call of a shooting on Hudson Road.
When officers arrived, they were told an adult female had been shot and was taken to Sentara Hospital. After further investigation, authorities found the female was hit once in the abdomen while walking in her driveway. She was airlifted to Duke University Hospital where she is in stable condition.

According to a preliminary investigation, officers said it appears the shooting, which involved a juvenile, was accidental, however the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
