(WSLS 10) - The American Cancer Society holds its kick off for this year's Relay for Life tonight. The celebration give teams an introduction to this year event and ideas for fund raisers. This year's event takes place on May 6th.

The Bedford County Board of Supervisors will discuss concealed carry permits. The group could vote to send a resolution to Attorney General Mark Herring asking him to reconsider and for the General Assembly to take action. This comes after Herring announced that Virginia will no longer honor permits from 25 states.

Lane closures are expected this week on Riverland Road in Roanoke. Appalachian Power crews will work to update power lines. Expect alternating land closures today through Friday.

Roanoke Catholic held a Snowman Contest over the weekend. Everyone was encouraged to post a picture of their snowman. The one receiving the most likes wins a $20 gift certificate to the ice cream place of their choice.

Roanoke City Schools make sure students didn't go hungry through the long snowy weekend. Several schools sent packs of food home with students before the snow started. Churches, civic organizations and businesses donated money and supplies to make the program a reality. At Fallon Park Elementary, 200 students received the food bags.
