Saturday morning, crews hadn't called on National Guard soldiers for support and there hasn't been any reported power outages, but crews are on standby.

"We've got 51 personnel and roughly 18 to 20 vehicles for high mobility assets in which we'll go out in two to three man teams in groups of two humvees and we've put chains on all of our humvee tires," said Randolph Hawes with the National Guard.

Those soldiers met with local EMS crews Friday at a meeting at the Lexington Fire Department to make a plan of attack.

Rockbridge County Administrator Spencer Suter said it's a big task.

"We've coordinated very well. The three localities, we've had the universities involved, we've got three universities here. We've got the National Guard Armory here, so we do have folks staged there, soldiers staged there with humvees in case we need to move people from one place to another that can't get there," said Suter.

EMS crews and National Guardsman are scheduled around the clock through the weekend to provide support.

"We've got several different rotations set up right now where some of the guys are resting," said Hawes.

Crews said there have only been minor accidents, but they're prepared for the worst.

"Crews are ready and they're working and they will continue to clear roads," said Suter.
