LYNCHBURG, VA (WSLS 10) - The City of Lynchburg is warning community members of treacherous travel this weekend with heavy snow forecasted.

In the meantime, public works crews are working to ensure all snow removal equipment is working properly and salt is in full supply.

Once the storm hits, crews will be working around-the-clock to clear local roads.

The first priority will be clearing highly-traveled primary streets -- followed by collector streets and bus routes.

Neighborhood roads will be plowed if there is more than two inches of snow.

People living in those areas should be aware that snow on secondary roads could become packed because of freezing temperatures and traffic.

If that happens, plows will be unable to remove snow and ice all the way down to the pavement.

The City is asking community members to park in their driveways to allow plows enough room to navigate.

If that is not possible, drivers should park on the odd-numbered side of the street.

Drivers are asked to stay off city roads until conditions improve.
