CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - Montgomery County residents will soon plead their case to the school board not to go through with school start time changes.

Tuesday night, one group plans to present what they call a compromise to the proposed change.

The school board approved a plan back in April that would start secondary students at 8:50 a.m. and elementary students at 8 a.m.

Although details of the compromise have not yet been released, organizers say their plan would help eliminate child care and safety concerns brought on by the school board's plan.

Parent Lori Roop said, "Compromise. Straight and Simple. Obviously, we would love it if they would just nix the whole idea, but we know that realistically that's not going to happen. Too much time has been put into implementation and things like that, and we get that."

The school board's plan is scheduled to take effect in the 2016-2017 school year.
