"We want the new box office to be kind of a fish bowl, really light up and be really attractive," said Executive Director of the Grandin Theater Foundation Ian Fortier. "So, when you're walking from across the parking lot at night and you're still 100 yards away you can see the Grandin Theater box office."

The renovations are possible thanks in part to a $50,000 grant from Roanoke City's Economic Development Authority.

The theater foundation paid for the remaining costs through fundraisers and private donations.

Renovations are expected to wrap up by the end of February. The theater will still be open for business during construction.
