Officers discovered that a man had fled the store with the Teeth Whitener Kits. The suspect fled on foot and no vehicle was spotted at that time.

Police  were given a detailed description of the suspect and immediately had a teletype sent to law enforcement in the region, suspecting that the offender was passing through the area shoplifting.

About one hour later, a Virginia State Trooper stopped Michael Milton, 27, of Smyrna, Delaware for a minor traffic infraction on Interstate-81 in Wythe County. It was discovered that Milton was wanted by northern Virginia law enforcement and he was transported to the Wythe County Sheriff's Office to be taken before a magistrate.

An alert Wythe County dispatcher recognized Milton's description from the earlier teletype when he arrived at the magistrates office and contacted Galax Police.

Police traveled to Wythe County and conducted an interview with Milton resulting in his arrest for Grand Larceny for the CVS theft.

Milton is suspected of similar thefts in Williamsburg, Colonial Heights, Stafford, Fairfax and Dale City in Virginia as well as Delaware.

Milton is being held in the New River Regional Jail without bond pending an arraignment in Galax General District Court.
