(WSLS 10) - The National Weather Service in Blacksburg issued its top five weather events for 2015.
Coming in at number five this year was the snow that fell in late February.

The region was blanketed with snow.
Only about two inches fell in Southside and Lynchburg, but the Roanoke Valley picked up four to eight inches with over a foot of snow falling in the Highlands.
At number four was the warm air that stuck around for November and December. November was the second warmest on record for Blacksburg and Danville with Roanoke coming in at fifth warmest.
That heat continued into December as well with highs in the 60s and 70s for Christmas week.
At number three this year was a winter storm on President's Day weekend. Arctic air was in place bringing temperatures in the teens. With moisture, a powdered snow fell with all of southwest Virginia picking up between four and ten inches.
February's cold air comes in at number two this year. Multiple blasts of arctic air brought the third coldest February on record to Danville, Lynchburg, Roanoke and Blacksburg. Lynchburg recorded a new all-time record low of -11 on February 20th.
The top weather story for 2015 according to the National Weather Service was flooding in late September. Tropical moisture brought up to 20 inches of rain, especially for people in Patrick and Floyd counties. At least 24 homes were destroyed as streams, creeks and rivers rose out of their banks. Damage estimates are over ten million dollars.
