ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Hokies leave today headed to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport. They take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. Tulsa leads the all time series against Virginia Tech by a 3 to 1 margin, but the two teams haven't met since 1978. This is Frank Beamer's last game as head coach. If they win it would give the Beamer 280 career wins including 238 at Virginia Tech.

The Roanoke Rescue Mission needs donations of cookies and sweets for its annual Christmas feast. You can drop off donations today and tomorrow. The annual Christmas Feast is the biggest meal of the year at the shelter. It is open to shelter guests and the community on Christmas Day. From 1-3pm, guests will be treated to a delicious menu of pork tenderloin, sides and dessert. Close to 1,000 people are expected to attend with 150 volunteers.
