HENRY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Henry County Sheriff's Office warns residents to watch out for the latest wave of scams.
According to the sheriff's office, there are three types of scams currently circulating in the area.

The first involves a called claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service. The caller warns the recipient that they owe delinquent taxes which they must pay or they will be arrested. The recipient is then prompted to give the caller their credit card information. The scammer then drains the money from the account. The sheriff's office says tracking these types of payments is difficult because the money is typically transferred outside of the United States.
Another scam to watch out for is a scammer posing to be a family member in need. The caller will state that they are a child or grandchild in jail, and they need money to post bond or pay for legal expenses. Typically, the scammer will ask the money be sent via a Green Dot Money Pak or a Reloadit card.
Finally, recipients are also receiving calls claiming their credit card information has been compromised. To protect their information, the caller says the recipient must provide them with their credit card number.
The sheriff's office says banking institutions and government agencies, like the IRS, will never contact residents by phone.
