RADFORD (WSLS 10) - It's a dream come true for a local boy who is battling leukemia.
Tuesday, 7-year-old Sutton Smith signed with the Radford University baseball team.
Now, he is officially a Highlander.
Smith was given the same signing privileges as any player. He even has his own hat, jersey and locker in the team dressing room.
"I hope it just shows him that people support his fight," said Radford's Baseball Coach Joe Raccuia. "I don't think he maybe know, 100 percent know, what's going on around him. But, as long as he feels love and support, maybe this struggle is not as hard."
The team is looking to give back by creating community awareness and support for Smith.
