ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -- One week before the Home for the Holidays is dedicated and it was all about the details Friday.

"Everyone says the walls go up really fast, the drywall goes up fast. You can paint really fast but those last little things that really make it pretty, that make it look finished are what we're working on today," said Habitat's Brian Clark. "It takes a little time but we're starting to plug through them."

Volunteers are putting knobs on doors and securing trim. John Garrison works for sponsor, Virginia Transformers but spent Friday taking part in the build where he can combine volunteering with another hobby.

"I like to work with my hands. I do a lot of work around the house as well so I thought this would be a chance to get out and volunteer my time doing something I like to do," he said.

Kitchen counter tops are going in along with everything else, including the kitchen sink.

One indicator things are almost done at the home is the numbers for the address are now actually up on the house.

Clark says the build is going so well, they're moving along faster than expected.

"Every group that we've had out has been really skilled or really energetic and between the two, we can always make it work. We're actually a little bit ahead of schedule."

The final finishes are expected to be complete before next week. The final building inspection will take place Monday.
