Round Town: Christmas celebrations

(WSLS 10) - Christmas comes to Christiansburg. Head to the Farmers' Market from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. to get a little shopping done. Take a break from shopping at 7 p.m. for the Christmas Parade. The theme is "Twinking Lights and Christmas Delights."

Dickens of a Christmas continues in Downtown Roanoke on Friday. See the sights and sounds of the season as well as Santa Claus at the parade. It starts at 6:30. There will also be vendors and ice skating at Elmwood Park.

Head to Buchanan on Saturday for the town's Christmas Parade. Main Street closes at 3 p.m. for lineup with the parade starting at 4 p.m.

Danville's Community Holiday Light Show opens tonight. This is the second year for the drive through event. This weekend, the lights are on at Ballou Park from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. It costs $7 per car to get in.

Take a candlelight tour of Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest. The tours will offer a look at how Jefferson and his family spent their evenings. Tours begins at 5:30 and 6:30 both Friday and Saturday nights. Admission is $20.

The Troutville Volunteer Fire Department holds its annual Open House and Christmas Party on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. There will be fire truck rides, games for the kids and a special appearance by Sparky the Fire Dog. Santa will also be there to take pictures.
