PIPERS GAP (WSLS 10) - After more than two years of planning and fundraising, Pipers Gap in Carroll County has a new rescue station.

The rescue squad invested about $600,000 to build the facility. It is twice the size of the old one and is expected to help cut response times by up to two thirds.

It is located on Glendale Road, a section that is responsible for around 800 of the 1,000 annual rescue calls in the Pipers Gap district.

The team added six new volunteers in anticipation of opening this new building.

The goal is to have the station paid off in five years.
