(WSLS 10) - The City of Lynchburg holds a public hearing about next year's budget. Tonight at 6:30, the city will give a presentation about results of its Citizen Survey. Afterwards, you will have a chance to give your thoughts about ways to improve the city. The meeting takes place at Dunbar Middle School.

Virginia Western Community College holds an information session about the Community College Access Program today for Franklin County students. The program starts at 6 p.m. at Franklin County High School where details will be given on how students can get up to two years of free tuition for those meeting income requirements.

Kelly Wilmore takes the helm of Grayson County Schools today as its new superintendent. Kelly has worked in education for more than two decades, most recently as superintendent of Craig County Schools.

Text to 911 begins today in Pittsylvania County. The service is intended to be used for those who are speech or hearing impaired or for those who feel texting is the best and safest way to contact 911. The Emergency Management Coordinator asks that texts only be used when a phone call is not possible.

Christmas is just 24 days away. Today the North American Aerospace Defense Command launches its Santa Tracking website. This is the 60th year the group has tracked the jolly old elf and his travels around the world delivering presents to good boys and girls. Starting at 6 a.m. Christmas Eve, you'll be able to find out where Santa is and when you need to be in bed so he'll make a stop at your house.
