Man arrested for animal cruelty, drug charges in Bedford County

BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A Thaxton man is being held without bond on animal cruelty and drug charges.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office said on Sunday, Nov. 29 they received a call to Johnson School Road in Thaxton in reference to dogs being shot at.

Deputies responded and identified Jeremy Lee Johnson, 25, as the suspect. A warrant was obtained for Johnson and when deputies returned to his home to arrest him they located evidence of possible narcotics activity.

Investigators were notified and a search warrant was obtained to search the home. While searching, investigators found nine one pot methamphetamine labs and two firearms.

Johnson was arrested and charged with animal cruelty, reckless handling of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamines, and possession of narcotics while in the possession of firearms.

He was transported to the Bedford Adult Detention Center.
