West Virginia murder suspect arrested in Alleghany County

ALLEGHANY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A stand-off is over and a suspect in custody, according to the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Kevin Hall said a murder suspect from West Virginia was spotted Saturday morning in the Callaghan area of the county by a passerby.

Deputies tried pulling over the 22-year-old suspect, but he was later found in a homeowner’s backyard in the Westwood section of Alleghany County.

According to the sheriff, deputies tried for several hours to negotiate the suspect out of the vehicle before getting close enough to taze him and take him into custody.

The suspect is wanted for a double homicide in Marlinton, West Virginia.

West Virginia State Police along with the Covington Police Department also assisted.
