Man who spotted person of interest in W.Va. double murder speaks

ALLEGHANY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - People in Alleghany County are relieved after a tense two hour standoff Saturday morning. Alleghany County Sheriff Kevin Hall said a person of interest in a double murder case out of West Virginia is in custody.

One resident, Kevin Wolfe, spotted the vehicle, a black Honda Pilot that Aaron Bussard, 22, was driving at a Marathon gas station west of the City of Convington.

"I saw the license plate number, the color of the vehicle, the make the model, and then saw the guy. I was like 'holy crap this is him,'" Wolfe said.

Wolfe then called police and followed Bussard cautiously, despite a police warning that he was armed and dangerous.

"I wasn't going to let him get away, I wasn't going to let him get away, I'll do whatever it takes to to keep him within in sight," Wolfe said.

Alleghany County Sheriff Kevin Hall said deputies tried pulling Bussard over in the Westwood area of the county.

Hall said authorities negotiated with Bussard until they tazed him and he's is glad no officers were hurt.

"Prayed on my way up here today that the situation that it would be a peaceful resolution to this situation, especially during the Thanksgiving holidays," Hall said.

West Virginia State Police and Convington Police helped detain Bussard.
