(WSLS 10) - You can give the gift of life today and receive Thanksgiving desert. Everyone who attempts to donate platelets at the American Red Cross today in Roanoke or Lynchburg will receive a free pumpkin pie. Platelets are the clotting component in blood and only have a shelf life of five days.

The lights will shine bright in Galax starting tonight. High Country Lights set up its light show at Felts Park in Galax. The show has 100,000 LED lights that are synchronized to music. The show runs daily from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. To hear the music, you tune your radio to 96.5 FM as you drive through.

Volunteers will help those in need today at the Roanoke Rescue Mission. They will be there for the mission's annual Thanksgiving Feast. The rescue mission fed nearly one thousand people last year.This is the 67th year for the dinner. Almost all of the food is donated to the mission.
