ROANOKE (WSLS 10 SPORTS)- The retirement of Frank Beamer affects more than just the head-coaching position.  The future of the assistant coaches is unknown as the hunt for Beamer's replacement continues.

"You know that's the tough part there's a lot of families a lot of kids there going to school here their whole life and so forth and so trust me I put a lot of thought into the decision before I made it because I knew it wasn't just me and my family it's nine coaches that I'm concerned about," explains retiring head coach Frank Beamer.

"We continue to recruit and what we tell these guys is that obviously there's some uncertainty with the staff to say the least but that doesn't change what a great school this is. We tell recruits all the time don't choose a school necessarily because of the coaching staff you know different choose it for different reasons.  I know the coaching staff has a lot to do with that and that's why you see some guys do you commit and have some uncertainty from that standpoint but this is a special place and we want what's best for Virginia Tech and you know the nine assistant coaches and head coach-- not all of us will be here next year, " says Shane Beamer, Hokies Associate Head Coach.

While the uncertainty of the future of this program lingers the Hokies made it very clear the only thing on their mind is beating Virginia on Saturday.  The 5-6 Hokies travel to Charlottesville to battle 4-7 Virginia. A win puts the Hokies into a 23rd consecutive bowl game.
