Urban Survival Course sees increase after attacks in Paris

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - An urban survival course through Mountain Shepherd Survival School is seeing increased interest following the attacks in Paris.

Reggie Bennett, president of Mountain Shepherd, is training people how to be better prepared if a dangerous situation or a natural disaster were to happen.

Jeff Lunsford says he wanted to take the class.

"The odds are pretty slim, but this is very interesting," says Lunsford. "All of us want to travel. All of us want to be out and about."

As part of the training, Bennett shows students what to carry when traveling. There are maps, walkie talkies, first aid kit, and a water bottle called Grayl which can purify water.

Bennett also shows techniques like how to defend yourself.
