BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Hokie Nation has made its appreciation for Frank Beamer known since he announced his retirement and it was apparent in the hundreds of signatures on a banner thanking Coach for his dedication to Virginia Tech.

Beamer was presented with a banner Monday, signed by the Hokie Nation with messages of thanks and well wishes during the remaining games of his last season with the Hokies and beyond. The banner was displayed at Volume II Book Store on Virginia Tech's campus for fans to sign from November 16-20, leading up to Tech's game against North Carolina and Beamer's last home game of his final season.

Even though the Hokies didn't pull off the win against the Tarheels 30-27, Hokie Nation came out in full effect for the game, sending Coach off in grand fashion. The game was sold out and after it was over, fans chanted "Thank you, Frank!" in unison.

The Hokies final game of the season against University of Virginia, known statewide as the Commonwealth Cup, is in Charlottesville Saturday, November 28 at noon.

Monday, Beamer talked about Virginia's most famous rivalry after being presented with the banner.

"It's been big. It's been special, it's the other team in the state," Beamer told a crowded room of sportscasters.
