Danville police investigating after crash victim found with a gunshot wound

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) -- Danville police officers are investigating a single vehicle crash in which the driver was found with a gunshot wound.

According to investigators, officers responded around 10:45 p.m. to the crash near the intersection of South Main and Gray streets.

Investigators say the driver of a white Chevrolet Blazer, a 65-year-old man from Halifax County, was driving south on South Main Street when he hit a utility pole. Authorities say the victim had injuries resulting from the crash, as well other injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

The driver was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No one else was in the vehicle and there were no reports of other injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
